By giving the gift of time volunteers play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the Ronald McDonald House. They greet families with welcoming smiles and listening ears, provide a meal, administrative support, help keep our House tidy, inside and out, and offer support to guest families.

Your upcoming work as a volunteer is even more important because everything you do will contribute to providing our families with a warm, loving refuge so desperately needed as they learn to cope with one of the most difficult times of their lives. We recognize that your time is a precious gift and we are grateful that you are willing to share it with us.

Providing a meal is about much more than serving food. It gives families a chance to take a break from the stress of hospital visits, connect with others who understand their journey, and enjoy the comfort of a home-cooked meal in a welcoming environment. Your generosity helps create moments of relief, encouragement, and support when families need it most.

Meal volunteer opportunities are open to everyone. Families, friend groups, students, businesses, churches, and community organizations all play an important role in helping care for the families staying with us.

More Opportunities

At The Ronald McDonald House:

Assist the House Manager with a variety of daily tasks that help keep the House running smoothly. Volunteer duties may include preparing rooms for incoming families, answering phones, organizing donations, light cooking, and general cleaning. For those who prefer to work outdoors, there are always groundskeeping projects such as picking up leaves and sticks, weeding flower beds, tidying porches, collecting litter, and helping maintain the appearance of our property for the families we serve.

Special Events Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout the year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Kansas hosts five signature fundraising events: Chiefs Flag Sales, Fill the Pantry, Sporting Clays, Golf Tournament, and our Annual Gala. These events play a vital role in supporting the families we serve, and volunteers are essential to their success.

Whether you’re interested in event setup, registration, guest assistance, sales, cleanup, or other event-day activities, there are many ways to get involved. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help ensure these events run smoothly and create a positive experience for our guests and supporters.

If you are interested in volunteering at one of our special events, please contact Mindee Reece at mindee@rmhcneks.org for more information.
